• As non-ferrous metal particles pass over the rotor, the rapidly alternating magnetic field induces eddy currents

• These eddy currents generate a repulsive magnetic force on the metal particles — effectively "launching" them forward in a different trajectory from non-conductive materials

• A precisely positioned splitter plate divides the two trajectories: non-ferrous metals land in one bin, non-metals in another
